Margaret Tumusiime, a Financial Analyst at the Department of Homeless Services in New York City (NYC), is responsible for managing the budget for the Police Department. Her role entails ensuring that police officers have the necessary equipment, materials, and supplies to effectively handle homeless and asylum seeker shelters. Before joining the NYC Department of Homeless Services, Margaret worked as a Financial Analyst for International Business Machines (IBM), where she supported countries in the Asia Pacific region. Additionally, she gained experience as a Competitive Marketing Analyst at Kraft Foods Inc.
Margaret holds a BS degree in Accounting from Lehman College and an MBA in Financial Management from Pace University in New York. Beyond her professional endeavors, Margaret actively contributes to the Ugandan community both nationally and locally. She has served on the boards of various organizations, including the International Community of Banyakigezi (ICOB), IBM's Black professionals' group, the Uganda Women's group in NYC, and the Uganda American Association of Greater NY.
Margaret has held positions of responsibility, serving as Treasurer for the New York UNAA Convention in 2006, Uganda American Association of Greater NY (UAAGNY) and the International Community of Banyakigezi (ICOB). In 2008, she served as the host chair for the ICOB Convention held in White Plains, New York.
Born and raised in Kitumba, Kabale, Margaret attended Mary Hill High School and Makerere Caltech Academy before relocating to the United States for further studies. She is a mother of four and enjoys watching basketball with her family, spending time with friends, participating in community initiatives, gardening, and listening to African music.
